Traditional animation is generally kid-friendly, although Pixar often manages to push the boundaries by embeding underlying adult/explicit themes as seen in the movies Up and Wall-E, as well as the the more recent Inside Out. It's not very often that you come across animated movies that are bare bat-shit heart-rendering and grievious.
